A few tips for working with Obsidian Portal
OP takes a bit of setup work to really go smoothly, and I’ve kind of done this one quick and dirty so far. Hopefully I’ll get it cleaned up a bit soon. For now, here are a few tidbits to help get things started.
First, OP uses Textile formatting for all its pages, including the forum posts. It can be a little annoying, but shouldn’t be an issue if you keep things simple. The various icons around the text boxes can be used to put common formatting in automatically (links, bold, italics, lists, etc.), pretty much like any normal word processor.
To add a post to a forum topic, just scroll to the bottom and type what you want to say in the text box. Or there might be a reply button first, I don’t actually remember. If you want to add a new topic, follow the directions below.
To make a new page, character, forum topic, or whatever else, look for the “+” icon in a small box at the top right of the appropriate section. You should also be able to use the “New” drop-down menu in the top toolbar to add items to the wiki. Fill out any relevant entries and scroll to the bottom for the “Create” button.
To edit an item after it has been made, look for the pencil-and-paper icon just to the left of the page’s title, or to the right side of each character’s name on the Character page. After changes are made, the “Save” button is at the bottom of the page. OP holds on to old versions for a while, in case you need to revert.
Let me know it anything is not working as expected and I’ll sort it out quick as I can.
